विजया दशमी के दिन सभी ग्राम
वासी चिंगली खिलाकर कुछ अन्न भेंट
करते थे।
On Vijaya Dashami day, all the villagers would offer some grain after feeding chingali.

उन लोगों को विजयादशमी के दिन
चिंगली आदि खिलाकर कुछ अन्न
भेंट करते थे। श्लोक पाठ के
साथ गेहूं या जौ के छोटे छोटे
पौधे रखे जाते थे। और
यजमान उन लोगों से कुछ
दक्षिणा दिया करते थे।
On Vijaya Dashami day, they would offer some grain after feeding those people chingali and other things. Small plants of wheat or barley were placed along with the recitation of shlokas. And the yajaman would give some dakshina to those people.

शुरू में उन्हें अनाज ही
मिलता था लेकिन बाद में
पैसे ही मिलने लगे।
Initially they would get only grains, but later they started receiving only money.

विजया दशमी के दिन
समूचे गाँव के लोग एक निश्चित
जगह पर जमा होते थे। उस
सभा में गाँव की समस्याओं
पर विचार विमर्श होता था।
On Vijaya Dashami day, people from the entire village would gather at a fixed place. In that assembly, there would be discussion and deliberation on the village's problems.

इस तरह की सभा प्रति वर्ष में
एक बार होती थी - उसे हम
Village General Assembly
कह सकते हैं। इसमें गाँव के
मुखिया और गिने चुने प्रतिष्ठित
पंच बीच में बैठते थे।
This type of assembly would happen once a year - we can call it a Village General Assembly. In this, the village headman and selected respected panch would sit in the middle.
