अपना विशेष महत्व था। हर एक जाति के
काम अलग अलग थे। समाज में
सबका अपना महत्वपूर्ण योगदान था।
किसी जाति का किसी जाति पर
दिन में निर्भरता नहीं थी। बल्कि समाज
के बिना किसी का काम नहीं चल सकता
था। उदाहरण के लिए एक विशेष
समय में डोम जाति का बहुत महत्व
हो जाता था। जैसे अंतिम संस्कार
के समय चिता में आग डोम से
ही लेना होता था। बिना उसके आग
लिए कोई संस्कार पवित्र नहीं समझा
जाता था। दुसाध जाति के एक सदस्य
को गोराईत कहा जाता था। उसका
काम था गांव में सूचना पहुंचाना।
जैसे किसी विशेष सूचना को
लोगों में पहुंचाना और इसके बदले
में गांव की ओर से उसके भरण-
पोषण के लिए कुछ जमीन
मिली होती थी। इसी प्रकार सभी
जातियों का अपना-अपना विशेष
महत्व था। उनके काम समाज में
अलग-अलग निर्धारित थे।

His own special importance was there. The work of each caste was different. Everyone had their own important contribution in society. No caste was dependent on any other caste during the day. Rather, without society, no one's work could function. For example, at a particular time, the Dom caste had great importance. Like at the time of last rites, fire had to be taken from the Dom for the pyre. Without taking fire from him, no ritual was considered sacred. One member of the Dusadh caste was called Gorait. His job was to deliver information in the village. Like delivering any special information to the people, and in return for this, he would get some land from the village for his sustenance. In this way, all castes had their own special importance. Their work was separately determined in society.
