इस परियोजना का महत्व (the significance of the project)

वैदिक सामाजिक परम्परा में संश्लिष्ट जो हैं। भारत में अकबाल में विद्वानों की भाषा अंग्रेजी रही है जिसमें बड़े-बड़े मूल्यवान ग्रन्थ रचे गए। लेकिन अब विद्वानों के बीच भी अंग्रेजी के स्थान पर हिन्दी की लाचारी तथा सम्पर्क भाषा के कारण लगभग बीस करोड़ की आबादी की प्रतिदिन बढ़ती चली जा रही है और यह सामान्य जनमानस की आवश्यकता है। अत: keep वैदिक शब्दकोश की रचना से एक बोलिए तत्वों का विश्लेषण करता है, जैसे कोई रसायनशास्त्री किसी पदार्थ के तत्वों को अलग करके उसकी आकृति के विषय में जानकारी प्राप्त करता है, वैसे ही वनस्पतिशास्त्रवेत्ता पौधों की आप को अपनी विभिन्न प्रजातियों के द्वारा समझ जाता है, वैसे ही, धर्मलोगों के लिए भी राज्यों में निहित अर्थों का ढूंढना प्रस्तावित भीधा(?) ।

This discusses the importance of this project in relation to Vedic social traditions. In India during Akbar's time, the language of scholars was English in which many valuable texts were written. But now even among scholars, Hindi is gradually replacing English as the contact language for a population of about twenty crore. Hence the need for a Vedic dictionary that analyzes elements, just as a chemist separates the elements of a substance to understand its structure, or a botanist understands plants through their various species, similarly for religious people to find the meanings inherent in states.

उतिहास की मानता जैसी की उसी से प्रभावित राष्ट्रचमन के शब्दों के अर्थ व्याख्या के कारण नहीं बदले बल्कि वैदिक साहित्य के विश्लेषण से यह स्पष्ट होता है कि जैसे तत्कालीन आर्थिक व सामाजिक आवश्यकताएँ बदली गई तो न केवल शब्दों के अर्थ में भी बदलाव आया। बल्कि वाक्य गठन में भी परिवर्तन हुआ है। जैसा कि विद्वान बी.एन. अग्रवाल ने कहा है कि शब्दों के क्रम में भी महत्वपूर्ण गौण-मांतिक अर्थ करने हे हैं। वा.हा. अग्रवाल का कथन है कि वास्तव में

Words are actually symbols of thoughts. They are not abstract but concrete. We cannot forget that the physical circumstances in which they originate also necessarily influence the thoughts of that era. Equally important is the fact that to understand Vedic literature we need to understand the language of that era.
