A custom which is still found (in Mithila) in existence to some extent today was known among the Licchavi, i.e. a Licchavi going could select a suitable wife for a Licchavi when asked for and this Licchavi gana went also to display of charges of adultery confined marriages to Vaisali.

It also appears that any(?) main cause of dissection between the Lichavis and Ajatasatru of magadha was that the Licchvis did not divide equally with him some provisions gems(?) washed ashore by the Ganges from a mine at the foot(?) the hill not very far away from the ganges and at last got in(?) placing them down saying dissections among them. But it is not possible yet to locate any such spot in Vaisali.
